Once again Dallmer drain elements have been singled out for an award for their outstanding design: the drain cover plates of the Dimensions series were recently honoured with the 'Good Design Award' 2011. High international recognition for the design quality of products that also make level-access showers a visual highlight in the bathroom.
The Good Design Award (USA) is widely acknowledged as one of the oldest and most prestigious awards for design excellence worldwide. Founded in 1950 by Edgar Kaufmann jr., it is awarded each year to sophisticated and innovative designs. Founder, organiser and host is the Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design. It is considered Chicago's most prestigious cultural institution and is the only museum of its kind in the USA. Each year, some 3,000 applications from more than 40 nations are submitted in the hope of winning one of these coveted awards. The key decision criteria of the jury – which is made up of professionals of the design and art scene, company representatives and diplomats – include level of innovation, concept, material, design, craftsmanship, functionality, value to users and aesthetic impression of the products. As a winner, Dallmer is entitled to use the Good Design logo, which was designed in 1950 by the renowned industrial designer Mort Goldsholl.
Level-access showers have become increasingly popular in recent years, with the trend still on the rise. As well as being convenient, they offer many advantages in terms of interior design. The 'Dimensions' designer cover plates - comprising the models Galaxy, Saturn, Puls and Cut - have now transformed the drain point into a real 'eye-catcher'. The inlets have been designed to reflect the fascinating shapes and structures of distant worlds, such as the arms of a spiral galaxy, the rings of Saturn, the recurrent radio signal of a pulsar or the grid structure of a crystal. All designer gratings are made of 5 mm solid stainless steel with a satin finish. The round gratings fit on top-mounted frames with a diameter of 155 mm, the square grating Cut on a 150 x 150 mm frame, a common tile dimension. Thanks to their exclusive design, these floor drains with designer cover plates are often an attractive alternative to the - also award-winning - shower channels from Dallmer.
