It has now become that much quicker and easier to install in-line shower systems, for example in sports clubs, using the Serias 1200 shower underlay from Dallmer, an industrial component that enables a pre-fabricated front-of-wall channel formation in any length.
The once laborious and costly planning and installation stages are now largely reduced to just three simple steps:
1. Position shower underlay and connect the drain,
2. Lay the screed
3. Lay the tiles.
Made of polystyrene foam board, the Serias 1200 has an integrated slope, is waterproof, reinforced on both sides with glass fibre fabric and coated with polymer-modified mortar. This means that, once the surrounding screed is laid, the floor can be directly tiled. The initial installation length is 120 cm, which can be lengthened to requirements by adding extension elements of 30, 60 and 120 cm. This enables extremely flexible planning and positioning of the individual drainage points for the in-line system while also maintaining a uniform slope.
The Dallmer in-line shower underlay has an integrated drain body with a lateral DN 50 connection and a drainage rate of 0.8 l/s. The drain can be turned through 180° in the shower underlay, so that the connecting pipe can be installed front-of-wall or flush-in-floor as required. The system uses the proven siphon insert Primus - with a water trap height of 50 mm - which also operates mechanically if necessary. In cases of infrequent use where the water trap is left empty, Primus works like a lid and prevents sewer gases entering the room.
The drain body is rounded off with a 150 x 150 mm, grating in grey, black or chrome-plated. The grating is infinitely adjustable from 7 - 17 mm and can then be tiled to achieve an individual and harmonious finish.
